Mason Co Public Works Meeting with Rustlewood Neighbors On April 16, Mason Co Public Works folks and Rustlewood Homeowners met to discuss the upcoming water and sewer rate changes. Mason Co Utilities & Waste Management manages water, waste water, and solid waste for Rustlewood. It sounds like the commissioners are scheduled to make decisions about Rustlewood's rates at the public hearing on April 23, 9:15 am, Mason Co Building 1, Commission Chambers, 411 North Fifth Street, Shelton. If you have an opinion, plan to attend the meeting in person or via Zoom, or email testimony ahead of time to MSMITH (msmith@masoncountywa.gov).

Rustlewood Utility Rate Review - WaterRustlewood Utility Rate Review - Sewer Meeting Overview - Water Operating Budget is $294,408. Rate to operate the system is $181 per household, or $2172/yr. This would yield $312,768 per year. Current rate per home is $44.32. Over the next 10 years, expenditures most likely to be needed: replace system isolation valves (2 per year); improve iron & manganese issue; replace pressurization pumps; reservoir inspection for defects; and update water system plan.
Meeting Overview - Sewer Operating Budget is $500,978. Rate to operate the system is $251 per household, or $3012/yr. This would yield $469,872 per year. Current rate per home is $118.15. Over the next 10 years, expenditures most likely to be needed: replace dissolved oxygen probes; rebuild lift station 1, 2, 3; upgrade odor control and process control components; and update facilities plan.
